Youth League Coach Onboarding Checklist

A repeatable first-week checklist for giving each coach the same approved information, equipment, contacts, and safety expectations.

Audience: League directors and volunteers onboarding youth coaches.

How to use it

A repeatable first-week checklist for giving each coach the same approved information, equipment, contacts, and safety expectations.

  1. Confirm the coach's approved status and any current league or safeguarding requirements.
  2. Share the schedule, facility access, rules, emergency process, communication channel, and who makes day-of decisions.
  3. Issue equipment with a signed checkout and show where to report damage or a missing item.
  4. Review the first-practice expectation: safe space, age-appropriate plan, attendance, and approved adult handoff.
  5. Schedule a short check-in after the first practice and record open questions for the league.

Setup notes

Use one checklist per coach and keep completion evidence in the league's approved system. Give the coach a quick-reference page rather than the entire admin folder.
