Blank Youth Sports Practice Planner
A flexible blank sheet for turning a coach's own idea into a timed practice with a purpose, setup, transitions, and a short reflection.
Audience: Coaches in any youth sport who want to plan before arriving at the field.
How to use it
A flexible blank sheet for turning a coach's own idea into a timed practice with a purpose, setup, transitions, and a short reflection.
- Name the single outcome players should leave with; keep it observable.
- Set a start and end time, then divide the session into warm-up, teaching, repetition, game, and close.
- Write the equipment and field setup before the first activity so helpers can act without asking.
- Add one backup activity for weather, attendance, or a drill that is not working.
- Finish with one note: keep, change, or remove for next practice.
Setup notes
Complete the top half away from the field, then use the bottom half for notes. Keep the planner in a sleeve if you reuse it.
Coach cues
- One focus beats five goals.
- Write transition instructions, not just drill names.
- Plan for the roster you have, not the roster you wish you had.
Equipment
- Planner sheet
- Pencil
- Clipboard
- League calendar
Watch for
- Filling every minute with no transition time
- Writing activities without equipment
- Leaving no backup for a changing roster
