45-Minute K–2 Flag Football Practice Plan

A repeatable K–2 practice that moves from flag safety to passing, spacing, and a short small-sided game.

Audience: K–2 volunteer flag football coaches with a 45-minute practice window.

How to use it

A repeatable K–2 practice that moves from flag safety to passing, spacing, and a short small-sided game.

  1. 0–7 min: Movement warm-up with stop signal, change-of-direction, and safe flag positioning.
  2. 7–17 min: Partner flag-pull progression from walking pace to a controlled jog.
  3. 17–28 min: Passing gates and receiver spacing—players catch, turn, and find a new cone.
  4. 28–38 min: 3v3 game with one offensive rule and one defensive rule at a time.
  5. 38–43 min: Replay one game moment with a better route or safer flag approach.
  6. 43–45 min: Huddle, water reminder, and equipment return.

Setup notes

Create two small fields rather than one large field. Put spare flags and balls at an adult-only station.
