Audience: Volunteer soccer coaches working with beginner youth players.
How to use it
A beginner soccer session built around ball familiarity, passing gates, 1v1 choices, and small-sided play.
- 0–8 min: Players dribble to colored gates and stop the ball on the coach's signal.
- 8–18 min: Ball mastery loop—inside touches, sole stops, turns, and a change of direction.
- 18–29 min: Passing through gates with a partner; receiver checks away before showing for the ball.
- 29–39 min: 1v1 to a cone goal with the defender starting at a controlled distance.
- 39–45 min: 3v3 or 4v4 with a restart rule and one spacing cue.
Setup notes
Create several small fields so the ball stays close and touches stay frequent. Use pinnies to make teams obvious.
