10-Player Youth Baseball Defensive Rotation Sheet

A ten-player defensive grid that makes the Extra OF role and inning-to-inning movement visible without pretending to replace local rules.

Audience: Youth baseball coaches with ten available fielders and a league format that permits a tenth defensive spot.

How to use it

A ten-player defensive grid that makes the Extra OF role and inning-to-inning movement visible without pretending to replace local rules.

  1. List the ten players in a fixed order so the grid is easy to read.
  2. Assign nine standard positions plus Extra OF only when the league format allows it.
  3. Shift one assignment per inning so the card shows who moves, who rests if required, and who needs a check-in.
  4. Review pitching, catching, minimum-play, and safety restrictions before using the rotation in a game.
  5. Leave a notes column for a late arrival, injury, or rule-driven adjustment.

Setup notes

Build the grid before game day, then confirm the format with the league or umpire. Use a clipboard copy that can be marked without rewriting the whole plan.
